This little hamlet is literally just the other side of the A66 and is a good lunch time stop-off as well as an ideal overnighter. Troutbeck is about two miles up the A66 once you have returned to it from Mungrisdale. Be very careful crossing as many a motorist attempts the land speed record on this stretch.
